Frequently Asked Questions

Here at Sayenchi we are often asked for similar information on a regular basis so we would love to share a couple of the most commonly asked question with you all to give you more of an insight on what goes on in the Sayenchi world.

Why did you choose to keep and breed Chihuahuas?

Great question! We didn't anticipate on having Chihuahuas as a breed at all it was as much of a surprise to us as it was the Chihuahua breed. We initially bought a Bichon x Shih Tzu called Belle off a fantastic lady called Beverley Walbey of Salfian Chihuahuas and upon visiting her house we met her family of Chihuahuas and was hooked instantly! It was love upon first sight and I knew I had to have them in my life. I went on to buy long coat Chihuahuas off Bev and have learn't most of what I know about the breed from this amazing woman whom I have all the time in the world for so I blame her of my Chihuahua obsession.

Why did you choose to keep and breed Pugs?

Again, another fantastic question! We fell in love with Pugs after seeing them at Crufts and enquired about them with several of our friends who breed them. Upon visiting them, we just knew we needed to add them to our doggy family. They are super playful, very inquisitive, are always up to something (usually something they shouldn't be) and most certainly keep you on your toes. As we had a love for rare coloured Chihuahuas, we soon found we wanted to instil that same love in to the Pugs and strived to produce coloured Pugs with standard coloured show Pug quality without the associated health problems Pugs face.

Why did you choose to keep and breed Frenchies?

Once again, a brilliant question! We decided to get French Bull Dogs, otherwise known as "Frenchies" when a dear friend of ours started showing them. We had a Staffordshire Bull Terrier previously as a first pet, who sadly passed away at an young age due to health problems, so had always had a love for Bull breeds. We chose to get our first Frenchie several years ago as we fell in love with them instantly but we weren't happy with the snorting and poor breathing issues they faced. We set to it to improve on this as best as possible whilst still conforming to the breed standard but also introduce colour to the breed, priding ourselves on both health and quality first and foremost with DNA/colour being a secondary bonus.

Which make better pets?

If we are 100% honest with you, they ALL make fantastic companions. Both long & smooth coated Chihuahuas have so much character, the Pugs are full of life and love to play are the Frenchies love to chill out with the odd mad 5 minutes. They are all loyal, faithful, intelligent and no one is more high maintenance than the other but each breed suits different situation and families so please do your research.

What do you feed your dogs/pups?

We feed dry food and either puppy mousse or pressed food on a daily basis to our dogs, also adding a little raw product but vary their diets with additional extras such as fruits, vegetables, meat, poultry, fish, bones and many other household foods such as porridge, scrambled eggs, mixed beans and pulses etc...

What do your pups leave with and when?

Are your breeding/clinic facilities hygienic?

Why yes, of course. We pride ourselves on having lived in but clean environments for our dogs and clients. We use only the best in disinfectant/cleaning products and will only use Safe4.

Safe4 does NOT contain harmful Phenols, Aldehydes or Alcohol. It is NON-toxic, NON-corrosive, NON-staining, NON-tainting and a NON-irritant at all working dilutions. In working dilutions it has a neutral pH of approximately 7.6. There is no need to sluice away with water after application and it can be immediately brought into direct contact with animals whilst still wet AND most importantly is kind to the environment being water based and biodegradable and is DEFRA approved and made in the U.K.

Are your microchips from a government compliant supplier?

In short, YES! Our microchips are supplied by Animal Microchips.

Throughout the United Kingdom, it is mandatory for ALL dog owners to have their dogs microchipped and recorded with a U.K. Government compliant microchip database. It is also important to keep those details up to date with change of address or telephone details, as well as being U.K. law.

Animal Microchips are DEFRA and U.K. Government compliant.

Should I use a crate with my Dog?

Some individuals don't agree with crating dogs and that is fine, everyone is entitled to thier own opinion.
We however crate train our pups from an early age and create a balanced lifestyle of both play time, socialisation time, feeding time and sleep time where all our pups are taught to play out of their crates and then sleep one at night.

This then gives them a space that they can call "home" or "bed", whatever you choose to call it. All of our dogs take themselves off to bed at night time to their open top pens when the doors are open and they will happily climb inside and snuggle down for the night. This keeps them safe from harms way, they can't get themselves into trouble AND if you get a crate/pen large enough to have room for a bed, food and water bowl and a puppy pad it makes toilet training at night time much easier in our experience.
